Optimus Technologies expands senior-management team, hires director of commercial operations

Optimus Technologies, maker of the Vector System that upgrades diesel engines to run on 100 percent biodiesel, is growing its senior-management team and has hired George Dunn to fulfill the newly created role of director of commercial operations. According to Optimus Technologies, Dunn brings extensive experience from the transportation technology industry with more than 30 years in investment consulting, senior management, sales and marketing. Previously, Dunn held roles in telematics and fleet-management systems with Eroad and CarrierWeb, and transportation video-based safety systems, integrating artificial intelligence for safer roads and drivers with SmartDrive and Netradyne. Prior to Optimus, Dunn held a position at Qualcomm OmniTRACS for 14 years and was instrumental in its early growth and leadership in mobile communication and data-integration solutions.

Dunn’s responsibilities at Optimus Technologies will include developing strategies for sales growth, expanding both business and professional relationships throughout the industry, and growing Optimus’ sales and business development team.

“We are really excited to have George join the Optimus team,” said CEO Colin Huwyler. “His background in transportation, especially working to scale innovative transportation technologies, is an extremely valuable asset. During a time of rapid growth, we’re thrilled to have George coming on board to provide leadership on our sales and business development efforts as we continue to grow in the transportation sector, and expand into new markets.”

Dunn said, “It’s clear the Optimus team is loaded with passionate and extremely smart people. EVs in the medium- and heavy-duty markets are enjoying a lot of hype today but the pathway to practical deployment is long, expensive and filled with questions yet to be answered. The Vector System is a solution that is available right now and can deliver near-zero carbon emissions. I am excited to join the team and bring my expertise to the company.”

Dunn is a graduate of Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in logistics and transportation.

The Vector System, manufactured by Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based Optimus Technologies, is designed for medium- and heavy-duty fleet applications where emissions reductions are challenging or impossible to achieve in a cost-effective manner through other means. The Vector System integrates into existing operations to facilitate a seamless transition to low-carbon fuels. Optimus’ Vector System is in use with leading municipal and private fleets throughout the country enabling them to achieve near-zero carbon emissions while reducing their fuel and fleet operating costs.
