Germany’s biodiesel quality management association (AGQM) announced April 30 that results from its latest report, “Biodiesel Quality Report 2025,” demonstrates once again that biodiesel produced by its members in Germany and Austria meets the highest quality standards and thus makes a reliable contribution to decarbonization in the transport sector.

One of AGQM’s key tasks in the field of quality assurance is to carry out unannounced sampling at its members’ premises, including biodiesel manufacturers and traders.

For this purpose, samples are taken directly from ongoing operations and thoroughly tested for compliance.

The results are then published annually in anonymized form.

In 2025, a total of 67 samples with 1,273 test parameters were analyzed, with the acceptance limit being exceeded in only two cases.

According to AGQM, this underlines the outstanding quality of the biodiesel produced by its members, which is suitable for use both as a pure fuel and in blends.

“The results of our unannounced sampling for 2025 clearly demonstrate that the biodiesel produced by our members in Germany and Austria meets the highest quality standards,” said AGQM Manager Katharina Friedrich. “Through its consistent commitment to quality, the industry is demonstrating that biodiesel is a reliable building block for greater climate protection in the transport sector.”

To achieve its climate-protection targets in the transport sector, AGQM said Germany will need a combination of climate-friendly liquid fuels, electric mobility, hydrogen applications and new mobility concepts.

Fatty acid methyl esters (FAME), also known as biodiesel, in particular remains an indispensable part of the transition, AGQM stated, as it delivers immediate greenhouse-gas savings and addresses the needs of the existing vehicle fleet.

The detailed Biodiesel Quality Report 2025 and an overview table of the individual parameters can be downloaded from the AGQM homepage here.

AGQM is an organization founded by leading companies of the German biodiesel industry.

As a technical association, AGQM predominantly deals with all issues concerning the quality management of biodiesel and its byproducts.
