Registration for latest AGQM round-robin tests for biodiesel, feedstocks open until Feb. 16

In cooperation with the Technical Committee for Mineral Oil and Fuel Standardization (FAM) in the German Institute for Standardization (DIN), the German biodiesel quality management association (AGQM) offers the world’s most extensive round-robin tests for fatty acid methyl esters (FAME), also known as biodiesel, as well as for vegetable and used cooking oils.

Registration for the 2024 biodiesel, vegetable and used cooking oils round-robin tests is open until Feb. 16.

A total of seven independent proficiency tests with different parameters are offered for which participants—typically more than 50 per year—can specifically register.

This offers all participants the opportunity to avoid unnecessary costs and save resources.

In the main part for FAME, in addition to the parameters of EN 14214, some additional parameters such as pour point and saturated monoglycerides are offered.

In the new 2024 round-robin test for FAME, total contamination is also being offered the first time.

“Participants can check the performance of their determination of the content of undissolved substances for the first time,” AGQM stated.

In four further proficiency tests, the parameters of oxidation stability, methanol, polyunsaturated fatty acids and the cetane number are tested.

The independent round-robin test for vegetable and used cooking oils addresses the analysis of oils (DIN 51623 and EN 14214).

Vegetable and used cooking oils are used, among other things, as starting materials for the production of biodiesel.

Thus, the analysis of oils and fats is an important aspect of quality assurance, also regarding inspection of incoming goods.

“Why do we put so much effort into revising our round robin tests every year?” posed Richard Wicht, CEO of AGQM. “Because one of AGQM’s tasks is to support companies and laboratories in the quality assurance of biodiesel and coproducts. We take the feedback from all participants very seriously and try to implement it as quickly as possible and further improve our tests.”

After the round-robin tests have been carried out, each participant receives an anonymized evaluation report and a certificate as proof of their own measurement competence.

The registration for the round-robin tests is available until Feb. 16 at http://rrt.agqm-biodiesel.com.

More information on the round-robin tests can be found on AGQM’s website.

AGQM is an organization founded by leading companies of the German biodiesel industry.

As a technical association, AGQM predominantly deals with all issues concerning the quality management of biodiesel and its byproducts.
