EcoEngineers announced Oct. 20 that Brad Pleima has been promoted to CEO.

Pleima succeeds CEO Shashi Menon, the co-founder of EcoEngineers, who the company said is retiring*.

Pleima joined EcoEngineers in 2017 and has served as president since 2021, leading the company’s strategic planning, operations and executive team.

With more than 23 years of experience in renewable energy and engineering, Pleima combines deep technical expertise with a practical understanding of the challenges and opportunities EcoEngineers’ clients face.

“His appointment provides continuity in leadership from someone who knows our clients and our business well,” the company said.

Pleima’s focus will be to continue delivering the core auditing and advisory services EcoEngineers’ clients rely on, as well as expanding the company’s offerings to help customers diversify, pursue new growth opportunities and navigate evolving global markets while managing risk.

This includes emerging areas such as maritime, methane management, International Sustainability and Carbon Certification System GmbH accreditation, forestry and other voluntary carbon-market programs as well as integration into LRQA Climate to bring additional resources and global expertise.

“This transition is also an opportunity to recognize the founders of EcoEngineers,” the company noted. “Shashi Menon co-founded the company in 2009 alongside Jim Ramm, who retired earlier this year. Together, they built a company grounded in exceptional client service and brought together an outstanding team of experts in low-carbon fuels, carbon markets and energy-transition consulting and auditing. Shashi also played an instrumental role in guiding EcoEngineers through its acquisition by LRQA in March 2025. We are grateful for the culture Shashi and Jim created and the lasting contributions they made to our clients, our people and our business.”

*Editor’s Note: Biobased Diesel Daily® reported Oct. 9 that Menon was “stepping back” from EcoEngineers to “begin a new chapter.”
