Menon, founder of EcoEngineers, steps back as CEO to begin new chapter

Shashi Menon, the founder and CEO of EcoEngineers—an LRQA company and a consulting, auditing and advisory firm with an exclusive focus on the energy transition and decarbonization—announced Oct. 8 that “the time has come for me to step back from EcoEngineers and begin a new chapter. I am taking a yearlong sabbatical to recharge, reflect and listen.”
Menon said when he founded EcoEngineers in 2009, he was trying to make sense of complex emissions regulations and help clients find their footing in emerging clean-fuel markets.
“Looking back over the last decade and a half, I am overwhelmed by company’s growth and evolution,” he said. “Growing the business, building a global presence and ultimately navigating a successful sale were only possible because of the extraordinary talent, trust and dedication of the people around me.”
Menon said he owes “a massive debt of thanks” to Eco’s incredible team of engineers, scientists, analysts and advisors.
“Working alongside you has been the greatest honor of my professional life,” he said. “To our clients, partners and early believers, thank you for trusting us to guide your journeys toward sustainability.”
Having spent years focused on commercial growth, scaling operations, building teams and hitting targets, Menon said his personal focus is now shifting more toward impact.
“I want to use the next year to gain a deeper understanding of mission-driven work, building the next generation of leaders and managing high-impact initiatives—without the commercial pressures of growing a company,” Menon said. “I don’t have answers for what comes next, but I am thrilled to face life’s next adventure and figuring out the road ahead one step at a time. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey—I am deeply grateful and look forward to dialogue, learning and giving back.”
