The National Oilseed Processors Association, the trade association representing the soybean, canola, flaxseed, safflower-seed and sunflower-seed crushing industries, welcomed Platinum Crush as the organization’s newest member in July.

Platinum Crush will begin reporting soy crush in the August NOPA Crush Report.

Platinum Crush owns and operates a soybean-processing facility in Alta, Iowa.

The 440-acre plant began operations in May 2024 and has the capacity to process 40 million bushels of soybeans annually.

Strategically located in Buena Vista County along Highway 7, the facility is designed to maximize value from locally grown soybeans while supporting rising demand across the food, feed and biofuels sectors.

As NOPA’s newest member, Platinum Crush brings not only significant new capacity but also a strong voice for value-added agriculture in Northwest Iowa and beyond.

“NOPA and our member companies continue to serve as critical thought leaders and play a pivotal role in advocating for the growth, profitability and long-term viability of oilseed crush and American agriculture, and we welcome Platinum Crush as the newest voice in that chorus,” said Devin Mogler, the president and CEO of NOPA.

“With this addition, NOPA now represents 98 percent of U.S. soy crush, strengthening our collective influence and bringing us one step closer to our goal of representing 100 percent of U.S. crush,” Mogler added.

Platinum Crush CEO Erik Lightner said, “Platinum Crush is extremely proud to join the National Oilseed Processors Association and have a voice in the future of our industry. We are excited to work together with Devin Mogler and all the other member companies to support U.S. agriculture, our suppliers and our customers while shaping the future of our industry.”

The first half of 2025 has presented both challenges and opportunities for the biofuels industry, with NOPA playing a leading role in driving progress.

U.S. EPA’s proposed Renewable Fuel Standard volumes for 2026-’27 represent a meaningful improvement, significantly increasing biobased diesel targets across both years.

NOPA said it remains committed to advocating for strong volumes that prioritize American feedstocks and reflect the substantial investments made by U.S. farmers and processors.

NOPA members have collectively invested $6 billion to expand U.S. crushing capacity by over 25 percent relative to 2023 installed capacity and are on track to support domestic production of an additional 1.4 billion gallons of biobased diesel by 2030.
