Broco Energy announced July 17 a new partnership with the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) to deliver and transition Massport’s fuel tanks to renewable diesel across its various facilities.

This collaboration marks a significant step forward in Massport’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and advancing environmental stewardship within Massachusetts through cutting-edge carbon-reduction solutions.

In a significant move beginning in 2025, Broco Energy partnered with Massport to strategically transition fuel tanks at critical Massport locations to 100 percent renewable diesel, including:

  • Conley Terminal.

  • Boston Logan International Airport.

  • Hanscom Air Force Base.

  • Worcester Regional Airport.

  • Other vital Massport facilities.

Renewable diesel, a cleaner-burning fuel derived from sustainable sources, offers a significant reduction in greenhouse-gas emissions compared to traditional petroleum diesel.

By embracing this environmentally friendly alternative, Broco Energy said Massport is demonstrating its dedication to a more sustainable future for its operations and the communities it serves.

“We are truly honored to partner with Massport on this vital initiative,” said Robert Brown, the president of Broco Energy. “As a company deeply committed to advancing clean energy in New England, we’ve been diligently preparing for this. Building on our strong performance since January 2024, when we first started performing on the pilot program, and working closely alongside Massport’s OEM, we’ve made significant investments in new upgrades to our facility, enabling the ability to injection-blend renewable diesel. This careful preparation, combined with our unique fixed storage and blending capabilities, allows us to provide a seamless and efficient transition for Massport. We believe this collaboration is a humble yet important step toward a more sustainable future for our region, showcasing what can be achieved when organizations commit to effective carbon-reduction solutions.”

According to Broco Energy, this partnership represents a significant milestone in regional efforts to combat climate change and promote the adoption of renewable energy sources.

“Broco Energy and Massport are dedicated to working together to ensure a smooth and effective transition, solidifying their commitment to environmental responsibility and innovation,” Broco Energy stated.

Founded in 2007 by Brown, Broco Energy is a Massachusetts-based, veteran-owned small business.

It is a full-service fuel, energy and service company specializing in the reliable supply and distribution of petroleum products, lubricants, propane and biofuels.
