KTA Super Stores, a seven-store chain serving residents on the Big Island of Hawaii, is partnering with Pacific Biodiesel and its subsidiary Maiden Hawai’i Naturals to facilitate the ability for Hawaiians to recycle household used cooking oil, buy locally made culinary oil, and help families in need during the holiday season.

Pacific Biodiesel is encouraging locals to drop off their used cooking oil at its biodiesel refinery in Keaau on the Big Island Nov. 26 through Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and at the KTA Super Store in Puainako Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. to noon.

For every gallon of used cooking oil recycled, Pacific Biodiesel will donate $1 to The Food Basket Inc., Hawai’i Island’s Food Bank.

Pacific Biodiesel will convert the used cooking oil dropped off by residents into biodiesel at its local, state-of-the-art biodiesel facility scaled to produce 5.5 million gallons per year.
