The Orlen Unipetrol Group announced Sept. 25 that it continues expanding its offer of advanced biofuels at filling stations in the Czech Republic.

Following a successful pilot project in Rokycany, the company is rolling out 100 percent hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO100), also known as renewable diesel, to other filling stations in the Czech Republic.

At the beginning of 2026, Orlen will be offering HVO100 at nearly 10 filling stations.

This low-emission fuel is designed for passenger cars, trucks and buses and is compatible with most modern diesel engines without any technical modifications being necessary.

Following the pilot launch of HVO100 at the Orlen station in Rokycany in October 2024, sales of this fuel have now been rolled out at the Orlen outlet at the motorway bypass of the town of Cheb.

Three more locations will be added during September and October: the Orlen filling station in Argentinská Street in Prague and the sites on the D5 motorway in Drahelčice and the D8 motorway in Siřejovice.

At the turn of 2025 and 2026, HVO100 Diesel will be available at about 10 selected Orlen filling stations located at key transit routes across the Czech Republic.

“It is our strategic ambition to cut CO2 emissions by 25 percent by 2030 compared to 2019 and become carbon neutral by 2050,” said Agnieszka Bobrukiewicz with Orlen Unipetrol Group. “We are implementing a range of decarbonization projects in industry and transportation to meet these targets. In addition to building the e-mobility infrastructure, we are about to start selling advanced biofuels at Orlen filling stations that enable our customers to significantly reduce their carbon footprint.”

The international network of Orlen filling stations, comprising over 3,500 sites in seven European countries, is gradually introducing HVO100 in selected markets.

In addition to Czechia, the renewable fuel is also available in Germany (Lampertheim, Hamburg, Elmshorn, Boizenburg, Achim, Gera) and Austria (Allhaming, Klaus an der Pyhrnbahn, Salzburg-Airport).

Beyond retail, the strategy includes developing partnerships with large fleet customers, particularly those aiming to meet environmental commitments as part of their ESG strategies.

Further expansion will follow in line with actual market demand.

Orlen Unipetrol has also tested HVO100 utilization in rail transport in cooperation with Czech Railways.
