Olleco opens 2nd new UCO-processing plant in UK this year

Olleco announced March 12 the opening of its second used cooking oil (UCO) processing plant in as many months.
In February, Olleco opened a new UCO-processing facility in Liverpool.

The new facility, located on the Thames estuary in Dagenham, England, is set to continue to expand the volume that Olleco processes in the U.K.
“We are excited to bring this innovative approach to Dagenham and Liverpool,” said Ciara O’Keeffe O’Donovan, Olleco’s chief operating officer.

“These new plants underpin our dedication to the energy transitions and ensure our customers’ waste is converted into valuable resources,” she said.
“Our goal is to make a positive impact on both the environment and the local community,” O’Keeffe O’Donovan added.
Both facilities feature what Olleco said is cutting-edge technology designed to maximize efficiency and minimize environmental impact.
Along with the bespoke Liverpool processing plant newly opened in February, this plant in Dagenham will reduce Olleco’s carbon footprint and provide critical infrastructure for the U.K.’s growing green economy.
“This new facility in Dagenham will play a crucial role in our mission to recycle waste and promote the production of U.K. biofuels,” O’Keeffe O’Donovan said.
Olleco said the U.K. has been a leader in decarbonizing transport through biofuels and has introduced a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) mandate this year, underpinning its strategic net-zero objectives.
According to Olleco, it and its owner ABP Food Group will continue to play a critical role in providing feedstocks to support this transition.
