IRFA appreciates Iowa delegation’s call to restore waived RFS gallons

U.S. Reps. Ashley Hinson, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Randy Feenstra and Zach Nunn—all from Iowa—joined a group of bipartisan colleagues Oct. 8 to urge U.S. EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin and Energy Secretary Chris Wright to preserve the integrity of the Renewable Fuel Standard by fully reallocating volumes lost to recent refinery exemptions.
The letter calls on EPA to issue a supplemental rule by Oct. 16 to keep implementation on schedule and to provide certainty to biofuels producers.
“IRFA appreciates Reps. Hinson, Miller-Meeks, Feenstra and Nunn for once again standing up for Iowa farmers and biofuel producers,” said Monte Shaw, executive director of the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association.
“The RFS only works when every gallon promised is delivered, and that means fully restoring the volumes lost to these refinery exemptions,” Shaw added.
“EPA must act without delay to provide certainty for farmers, support rural economies and ensure consumers continue to benefit from lower-cost, American-made renewable fuels,” he said.
