Incobrasa more than doubles biodiesel production capacity

The National Oilseed Processors Association celebrated the completion of a major expansion at Incobrasa Industries’ biodiesel production facility in Gilman, Illinois, more than doubling the facility’s annual production capacity from 75 million gallons to 170 million gallons.
The expanded capacity came online earlier this month and represents another significant investment by Incobrasa in American agriculture, domestic manufacturing and homegrown energy production.
The project follows the company’s recent expansion of its soybean-processing operations in Gilman, further increasing its ability to transform American-grown soybeans into high-value products for the nation’s food, feed and fuel markets.
Together, these investments demonstrate the economic opportunity created when the Renewable Fuel Standard volumes provide strong, durable demand for domestically produced feedstocks and biomass-based diesel.
“The continued investment by Incobrasa is exactly what strong, forward-looking biofuels policy can deliver for American agriculture and American energy security,” said Devin Mogler, NOPA’s president and CEO. “This expansion takes soybeans grown by American farmers, processes them here at home and turns them into a homegrown fuel that adds to our nation’s diesel supply. Investments like this create stronger domestic markets for farmers, support rural jobs and manufacturing, and reduce our reliance on foreign markets. The strong RFS volumes established by the Trump administration are sending an important signal that we are serious about producing more of our energy here at home.”
The biodiesel expansion comes on the heels of significant investments by Incobrasa to expand soybean-processing capacity at its Gilman facility.
By pairing increased soybean-crush capacity with additional biodiesel production, the company is creating additional domestic demand throughout the agricultural value chain, from the farm gate to the fuel tank.
“We are proud to make this investment in Gilman and in the future of American agriculture and energy production,” said Aluizio Ribeiro, the president and CEO of Incobrasa Industries. “We thank President Trump and his administration for their strong support of American biofuels and for recognizing the important role biomass-based diesel can play in our nation’s energy strategy. Increasing our capacity from 75 million to 170 million gallons annually positions Incobrasa to help meet the administration’s strong RFS volumes while putting additional gallons of domestically produced diesel fuel into the marketplace. Most importantly, we are doing it with feedstocks grown and processed here at home, creating greater value for American farmers and strengthening U.S. energy security.”
Biomass-based diesel—including biodiesel and renewable diesel—provides a readily available source of liquid fuel that complements the nation’s existing diesel supply.
Growing production also creates an important domestic market for soybean oil, adding value to U.S. soybeans while supporting the continued expansion of America’s oilseed-processing sector.
“Incobrasa’s expansion represents meaningful new demand for Illinois soybeans at a time when farmers need it most,” said Bryan Severs, chairman of the Illinois Soybean Association. “Illinois has been a national leader in biodiesel, supported by policies that grow the market for soybean oil while lowering fuel costs for Illinois consumers. As a farmer, I see the impact firsthand. With the Trump administration’s announcement last week, I can put dyed fuel in my semis during harvest, helping lower costs on my own operation. Incobrasa’s investment is another important step in creating stronger, more reliable domestic markets for Illinois farmers.”
NOPA members have invested over $7 billion in new and expanded processing capacity in recent years, significantly increasing the nation’s ability to process American-grown oilseeds domestically.
Incobrasa’s latest investment builds on that broader expansion and demonstrates how a strong RFS can translate into new markets, increased domestic manufacturing and greater energy security.
