Idled Arkansas biodiesel producer fined for air-permit violations

The Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment’s Division of Environmental Quality has entered into a Consent Administrative Order with, and issued a Notice of Violation to, Solfuels USA Inc., a biodiesel plant in Arkansas capable of producing 40 million gallons per year.

The actions were taken over air-permit violations dating back to 2017 through early 2021, including lack of proper data recording and fugitive emissions minimization plans.

The state documents show the plant, which began producing in September 2017, has been idle for more than a year.

Solfuels USA has agreed to pay a $4,500 fine and correct certain issues.
