German exports of rapeseed meal declined noticeably in the current crop year 2025-’26 compared with the previous year.
Above all, shipments to key EU destination countries dropped significantly.
According to data from the German Federal Statistical Office, Germany exported nearly 1.2 million metric tons of rapeseed meal from July 2025 to April 2026, representing a decline of approximately 19 percent from the same period a year earlier.
The Netherlands remained the most important market, taking 468,000 tons, although this was down 21 percent year on year.
Exports to Denmark decreased 11 percent, reaching just over 160,000 tons.
Shipments to Finland fell particularly sharply, declining 43 percent to 96,000 tons.
Outside the EU, Switzerland remained a major market, with exports totaling just under 66,000 tons, down 4 percent.
Deliveries to the U.K. also declined considerably, falling 26 percent to nearly 48,000 tons.
Individual markets such as Spain (up 64 percent to approximately 65,000 tons) recorded increases, but these were not sufficient to offset declines in key markets.
According to research by Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft mbH, export growth was constrained by a more limited supply of rapeseed meal, stable domestic demand and increasing competition from alternative protein sources such as soybean meal, which narrowed the scope for exports in the current crop year.
