Axens, Wison Engineering sign MOU to advance eSAF project development

Axens announced Sept. 7 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Wison Engineering to explore collaboration opportunities on global sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and eSAF projects, including the Fischer-Tropsch pathway.

 



Through this framework, the two companies will jointly assess practical-execution approaches that combine Axens’ proven process-technology expertise and Wison Engineering’s capabilities in standardization, modularization, global supply-chain integration and international project execution.

 



The objective is to develop eSAF solutions designed for greater cost and schedule predictability, rapid deployment and efficient replication across global markets.

 



Axens is a leading international provider of process technologies, developed by IFP Energies Nouvelles (IFPEN), catalysts, equipment and services for the energy transition, refining, chemicals and gas industries.

 



The company offers a broad portfolio of low-carbon solutions, including SAF.

 



Wison Engineering is a leading provider of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services and integrated technology solutions for the energy and chemical industries.

 



Established in 1997 and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2012, the company specializes in oil-and-gas processing, petrochemicals, C1 chemicals, new energy and other sectors.

 



Wison offers full lifecycle solutions spanning consulting and planning, engineering, procurement, construction and project management.

 



According to Axens, Wison operates under an internationally recognized health, safety and environment (HSE) management system to deliver safe and comprehensive engineering services to clients worldwide.

 



This collaboration aims to support selected SAF project developers with the implementation of strategies that improve cost predictability and control, streamline early project-development processes and timelines, enhance schedule certainty, address key barriers to bankability and support greater readiness for final-investment decision (FID) and commercial deployment.

 



“The challenge for SAF and eSAF is no longer technology alone—it is how to turn proven technologies into predictable, bankable and scalable industrial projects,” said Hengwei Liu, the chief technology officer of Wison Engineering. “By combining Axens’ process technology with Wison’s capabilities in standardized and modularized engineering, global supply-chain integration and project execution, we aim to reduce development complexity, improve cost and schedule certainty, and create solutions that can be efficiently replicated across markets. Ultimately, this is about shortening the path from technology to FID and commercial deployment.”
