Argent Energy, a sustainable second-generation biodiesel manufacturer, announced May 21 that it has been awarded two prestigious honors for exemplary health and safety performance at its England-based locations at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Awards 2024.

Argent Energy’s Oil Terminal location in Ellesmere Port, U.K., won a RoSPA Gold Medal for 2024 after achieving eight consecutive gold awards.

Argent Energy’s Stanlow site, also based in Ellesmere Port, U.K., was awarded the RoSPA Silver Award for its exemplary health and safety standards throughout 2023.

Both accolades demonstrate the company’s commitment to ensuring the highest health and safety standards across its sites.

“Congratulations to everyone at Argent for this achievement, and to our teams at Argent Oil Terminal and Stanlow for their outstanding efforts in health and safety,” said Louise Calviou, Argent Energy’s CEO. “These awards and recognitions underscore the hard work, vigilance and dedication of every team member across the organization, highlighting our ongoing commitment to upholding the highest safety standards.”

The RoSPA Awards program now celebrates its 68th year as the U.K.’s largest and most impactful health and safety program.

With almost 2,000 entries annually from over 50 countries, impacting over 7 million employees, it offers a platform to spotlight an unwavering commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in health and safety.

“Workplace accidents don't just pose financial risks and operational disruptions, they significantly impact the quality of life for individuals,” said Julia Small, RoSPA’s achievements director. “This is why acknowledging and rewarding excellent safety performance is vital. We congratulate Argent Energy for winning a prestigious RoSPA Award and showing an unwavering commitment to keeping employees, clients and customers safe from accidental harm and injury.”

Bryn Jones, Argent Energy’s safety, health and environment manager for the U.K., said, “These awards are great recognition of our ongoing commitment to health and safety across all our sites. They serve as a foundation to inspire our employees to enhance our existing culture and strive for further improvements in safety, health and environment practices.”

Argent Energy is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of waste-based biodiesel with a total production capacity of over 195,000 tons (approximately 58.5 million gallons) per year.

Argent Energy’s biodiesel brings significant environmental benefits by reducing CO2 emissions at the same time as delivering better fuel economy and lessening reliance on fossil fuels.

Argent specializes in producing biodiesel solely from wastes and continually strives for the highest sustainability of biofuels.
