2021 NEFI Legends Awards Dinner to honor women leaders in energy industry

At its annual Legends Awards Dinner Sept. 14, the National Energy & Fuels Institute intends to pay special homage to women’s suffrage and the 19th amendment, which passed in 1920, granting women the right to vote in U.S. elections.

The organization says it planned to mark the 100th anniversary last year, but the popular awards ceremony was not held in 2020 due to the pandemic.

The dinner, part of NEFI’s larger Heating & Energizing America Trade (HEAT) Show taking place this year at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, Sept. 13-15, is intended to “support those individuals who have made an indelible impact on our industry,” NEFI stated. “This year, there will be an extra-special twist on this always special occasion.”

The twist is that NEFI’s award winners in 2021 is entirely comprised of women leaders in the energy industry.

The 2021 Legends Awards recipients are:

  • Allison Heaney, president, Skaggs-Walsh (New York)

  • Roberta Fagan, logistics assistant, Newport Biodiesel (Rhode Island)

  • Susan Ware-Page, Maritime Energy (Maine)

  • Kelly Tully, president of C&H Transportation; vice president, Cota and Cota (Vermont)

  • Pam Giordano, valuation consultant, Cetane Associates; interim general manager, Dodge Oil & Propane/B&L Oil & Propane (New Hampshire)

  • Sandra Farrell, co-owner, Northboro Oil (Massachusetts)

  • Joyce Porto, president, Inland Fuel Terminals (Connecticut)
