Shell signs long-term SAF offtake agreement with Green Sky Manara

Shell Aviation announced on social media Nov. 2 that it has signed a long-term offtake agreement for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) with Green Sky Manara LLC, a subsidiary of Green Sky Capital, linked to a planned hydrotreated esters and fatty acids (HEFA) facility at Port Nador, Morocco.
Expected to begin operations in October 2028, the facility could produce approximately 150,000 metric tons a year of SAF or equivalent hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), plus bionaphtha and biopropane.
Under the agreement, Shell would be the exclusive offtaker from the facility.
This follows an earlier long-term arrangement linked to a planned HEFA facility being developed by Green Sky Capital in Egypt, which is also expected to provide up to 145,000 tons a year of SAF from the end of 2027.
These agreements form part of Shell’s broader portfolio of SAF supply, which includes offtake arrangements from plants in Pakistan, Malaysia, Thailand and the U.S., connecting emerging supply with customer demand.
As a leading aviation-fuel supplier, Shell helps to connect producers, infrastructure and customers through its trading, logistics, blending and distribution network.
“By integrating SAF into the existing aviation-fuel system, we help customers access available supply through established airport infrastructure,” Shell Aviation stated.
Shell is one of the world’s largest SAF traders and suppliers offering SAF at more than 80 airports in 18 countries.
“Long-term agreements with producers, together with strong customer relationships and investments across the supply chain, help strengthen our ability to meet growing demand,” the company stated. “This agreement is another step in building resilient supply chains and capabilities needed to make SAF more accessible to our customers.”
