Petrobras announced Nov. 4 that during the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), which will be held in Belém, Pará, Brazil, Nov. 10-21, it will cooperate by supplying diesel with renewable content for road transport and energy generation.
The state-owned energy company said this initiative reinforces the importance it places on debates about energy and socioenvironmental issues, as well as its commitment to sustainable development, social inclusion and the promotion of a just energy transition, which Petrobras said is necessary for Brazil’s development.
Petrobras will supply ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel with 10 percent renewable content (R10) for use in the dedicated bus fleet and in the electric-power generators to be used at the event, according to operational needs.
“COP 30 is a significant opportunity to update the global agenda regarding discussions and initiatives to address the challenges posed by the climate emergency,” said Angélica Laureano, Petrobras’ director of energy transition and sustainability.
“By hosting the conference, Brazil plays a crucial role in promoting sustainable and inclusive development and can effectively collaborate on actions to address climate change,” Laureano added. “Petrobras is part of this global effort, shares its concerns and wants to be part of the solutions for the success of the meeting.”
The international-cooperation agreement for the provision of renewable fuel for COP30 was signed with the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI), an intergovernmental organization for cooperation among 23 Ibero-American countries, with experience in promoting educational, scientific, technological and cultural activities.
