Maas Companies is auctioning off an unfinished 50 million gallon per year biodiesel production facility in Newton, Illinois. This is a lender-owned, sealed bid auction of the former BN National Trail Biodiesel LLC multifeedstock biodiesel project.

According to Maas Companies, the company fell behind on payments to the lender during construction and eventually lost ownership of the site and equipment through foreclosure. The 13.5 acres of land and equipment is now owned by Iuka State Bank.

The plant consists of process equipment designed by Kreido Biofuels and includes spinning tube-in-tube reactors, distillation columns and modular process skids.

The plant has been online and produced biodiesel, according to Maas Companies, but the lines and tanks have all been drained while the plant has been idle.

The deadline for sealed bids is July 22. For more information, click here.
