Neste Corp. announced Dec. 11 that it has partnered with Coleman Oil Co., a leading provider of fuels, biofuels, lubricants and related products, to enable cities and businesses to have easier access to Neste MY Renewable Diesel™ in the state of Washington.

This partnership expands the availability of Neste MY Renewable Diesel to key locations in Coleman Oil’s network of commercial-fueling stations and other distribution channels, such as bulk-fuel delivery and retail stations across Washington, offering this lower-emission fuel to the state’s construction, agriculture and heavy-duty trucking industries, as well as municipalities.

The partnership is expected to help the state reduce reliance on fossil diesel and make the transportation sector more sustainable, according to Neste.

“Washington state has demonstrated its commitment to sustainability by becoming the latest state to implement a Clean Fuel Standard,” said Carrie Song, Neste’s vice president for renewable road transportation in the Americas. “Neste is supporting the state’s goal of reducing emissions from the transportation sector by providing renewable diesel to the companies and cities in Washington. We are excited to partner with Coleman Oil. The company’s massive distribution network is crucial for us in making renewable diesel available across the state.”

Ian Coleman, president of Coleman, added, “We are extremely excited to partner with Neste. Neste MY Renewable Diesel is a best-in-class product that will be at the center of our renewables strategy.”

Made from sustainably sourced, 100 percent renewable raw materials, Neste MY Renewable Diesel can reduce greenhouse-gas (GHG) emissions by up to 75 percent over the fuel’s lifecycle compared with fossil diesel.

“In addition to reducing GHG emissions, renewable diesel delivers strong performance,” Neste stated. “Because it does not contain sulfur, oxygen or aromatic compounds, it combusts cleaner. Additionally, Neste MY Renewable Diesel performs well in extreme cold conditions (down to minus 4 degrees Fahrenheit or minus 20 degrees Celsius) and can be stored over long periods of time without deterioration, making it an ideal choice for businesses that operate in Washington, where the average daytime temperatures can range from the upper 30s to around zero degrees F in winter.”

Over the past decade, Neste has partnered with fuel distributors to create America’s leading renewable diesel distribution and marketing network.

Neste was one of the first companies to supply renewable diesel into California and Oregon after the two states adopted their clean-fuel programs, and today is expanding the footprint to Washington, creating what the company calls a renewable diesel fueling corridor along the U.S. West Coast.

Today, Neste has an annual production capacity of 1.14 billion gallons of renewable products globally.

The production capacity will further increase to 1.9 billion gallons in early 2024 thanks to the ramp-up of production at Neste’s expanded refinery in Singapore and the company’s joint operation with Marathon in Martinez, California, which also has made Neste the only global provider of renewable diesel, sustainable aviation fuel and renewable feedstock for polymers and chemicals with a production footprint on three continents.
