HCS Group joins Aviation Initiative for Renewable Energy in Germany
HCS Group, an international supplier of solutions for high-value hydrocarbon specialties, has joined the Aviation Initiative for Renewable Energy in Germany.
The initiative is an association of companies and organizations from industry, research and science and is committed to achieving the ambitious CO2-reduction targets of the aviation industry.
“We are convinced that we can make an important contribution to more sustainable flying,” said Harald Dialer, chief commercial officer HCS Group. “As a member of AIREG, we are committed to driving the market ramp up of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and actively supporting the various stakeholders in the aviation industry with their sustainability strategies by contributing our longstanding expertise in processing renewable feedstocks into innovative energy solutions.”
Melanie Form, managing director and member of the AIREG board, added, “We are very pleased to welcome HCS Group as a new member. The HCS Group’s plan to build an SAF production facility in Speyer is an important contribution to establishing Germany as an SAF production location. We are convinced that by working together, we will be able to advance the defossilization of aviation.”
HCS Group’s corporate strategy is to drive defossilization by providing sustainable hydrocarbon solutions to customers.
Only recently, HCS Group announced its intention to enter the SAF market in 2026 with its ambition to be the first commercial producer in Germany.
To this end, the company plans to build a production facility at its manufacturing center in Speyer, Germany, operated by Haltermann Carless.
The site is strategically located offering ideal prerequisites for supplying customers in Europe with SAF produced from waste biomass from the agricultural and forestry sector and in compliance with Europe’s Renewable Energy Directive (RED II).
AIREG was founded in 2011 as an association of companies and organizations from industry, research and science.
As a nonprofit initiative, AIREG is committed to the availability and use of renewable energies in aviation in order to achieve the ambitious CO2-reduction targets of the aviation industry.
The members come from all areas of the value chain of renewable energies for aviation, ranging from research at universities and large research institutions, plant manufacturers and operators, biorefineries, the petroleum industry, engine and aircraft manufacturers, government organizations, nongovernmental organizations and airports to airlines.
The industrial members cover a broad international spectrum from startups to large corporations.
