Tidewater Renewables Ltd. reported April 1 that, at approximately 9:00 a.m. Mountain time, there was a minor fire in the main renewable diesel process unit at its renewable diesel refinery located in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada.
The fire was extinguished, and the impacted area of the complex has been isolated and stabilized, the company stated.
Tidewater Renewables confirmed that all personnel are accounted for and no injuries have been reported.
The corporation said it continues to investigate the incident, both on its own behalf and in cooperation with the applicable regulatory authorities.
While the investigation is in its early stages, Tidewater Renewables said it is encouraged by the seemingly low level of damage resulting from the fire.
Tidewater Renewables said it maintains a full suite of spare parts at the renewable diesel plant, adding that it should be in a position to rectify the damage and complete the appropriate testing and analysis required to safely bring production back online in short order.
Given the product inventory levels maintained on site, Tidewater Renewables said the outage is not expected to have a material impact on its operating and financial results, assuming operations resume as expected.
Tidewater Renewables said it will provide more information as the investigation into the incident progresses, when and if new information comes to light.
