In a joint move that underscores its commitment to transparency, innovation and sustainability, FincoEnergies has announced the adoption of digital delivery through electronic Bunker Delivery Note (eBDN) technology across its marine biofuel operations in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp region.

This strategic implementation is powered by the FuelBoss platform developed by Ofiniti, in collaboration with trusted logistics partner VT Group.

This partnership represents a significant step toward a more digitized, efficient and trustworthy bunkering process in one of the world’s busiest fuel-supply hubs, according to FincoEnergies.

The marine biofuel market has long been characterized by complex logistics and opaque operational processes, the company added.

By integrating Ofiniti’s eBDN technology, FincoEnergies said it seeks to address these pain points head-on.

FuelBoss provides a fully digital workflow that enables real-time delivery coordination, automated documentation and instant data sharing between all stakeholders.

“Schedules are becoming increasingly tighter as demand for sustainable biofuels grows,” said Leon Arets, the trading and operations director at FincoEnergies. “We’re adopting a platform that enhances structure and responsiveness. This digital leap allows us to not only scale efficiently but also deliver greater transparency and operational excellence to our clients.”

This aligns seamlessly with FincoEnergies’ ambition to lead the transition toward cleaner and smarter transport solutions.

This milestone adds to FincoEnergies’ and its sustainable biofuels brand GoodFuels’ pioneering track record in digital transformation.

Both brands have led the charge in deploying blockchain-powered bunker-delivery notes, advanced fuel-tracing solutions and sustainability standards for marine biofuels.

From being the world’s first to successfully perform a commercial biofuel bunker delivery to setting new standards in digital traceability and introducing FuelEU Pooling as a compliance solution for FuelEU maritime regulations, the company has consistently redefined what’s possible in sustainable marine fuel, FincoEnergies stated.

“Digital trust is key in a decarbonizing world,” Arets said. “We are proud to build on our innovation legacy by implementing tools that strengthen the integrity and transparency of our operations.”

Ofiniti is no stranger to maritime digitalization.

A spin-off from global-assurance and risk-management leader DNV, Ofiniti brings together industry know-how with cutting-edge technology.

Its flagship platform, FuelBoss, is designed to replace cumbersome manual processes with streamlined digital workflows that boost efficiency and data reliability.

“Our work with LNG suppliers laid the groundwork,” said Oliver Brix Sparsø, the global director of sales at Ofiniti. “But this collaboration with FincoEnergies and VT Group marks the first large-scale commitment to digital-delivery workflows for biofuels. It’s a turning point for the region.”

FincoEnergies said its mission, “decarbonizing the industry together,” is grounded in collaboration and innovation.

The partnership with Ofiniti and VT Group exemplifies this spirit, the company said, combining technological leadership with operational expertise.

“As operators, we continuously look for ways to improve life on board and support our partners,” said Wouter van Reenen, the business-development manager at VT Group. “FuelBoss is a strong fit for our operations and those of our chartering clients.”

These cross-sector partnerships are crucial in accelerating the transition to a cleaner, more resilient transport sector, FincoEnergies noted.

“By pioneering the adoption of eBDN and digital workflows in marine biofuel delivery, FincoEnergies is setting a bold example for the industry,” the company stated.

The expected benefits include reduced administrative workload, fewer errors, real-time stakeholder insights and enhanced trust in delivery documentation, ultimately helping pave the way for scalable low-carbon shipping solutions.

The full potential of this innovation, however, can only be realized through widespread industry adoption, FincoEnergies stated.

As biofuel demand rises and the regulatory landscape evolves, FincoEnergies said it remains committed to enabling a smarter, cleaner maritime sector together with its partners and the broader industry.
