Alder Renewables has hired Neville Fernandes, formerly with Chevron Renewable Energy Group and Neste before that, as its new president and chief operating officer.
Fernandes brings more than three decades of experience across renewable fuels, petroleum and chemical industries and is widely regarded for scaling innovative clean‑fuel businesses, developing new markets and building long-term relationships with investors, customers, suppliers, policymakers and other stakeholders across the value chain.
In his new role at Alder Renewables, Fernandes will support operations, business development and strategy execution as the company transitions from pilot‑scale technology to its first commercial projects.
Before most recently serving as a general manager and vice president at Chevron REG, Fernandes spent more than 15 years with Neste.
As business-development manager and later general manager and president of Neste U.S., he led business-development and sales teams and successfully commercialized renewable diesel in the U.S. and Canada.
He also headed up Neste’s sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) development and managed early sales of SAF in the U.S.
Fernandes has long been a strong supporter of the renewable fuels industry, Alder stated.
He previously served on the governing board of Clean Fuels Alliance America and is a co-founder of the Advanced Biofuels Association.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Princeton University and a master’s in business administration (MBA) from the Schulich School of Business.
He is also a licensed professional engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario.
