Alder Renewables has hired Neville Fernandes, formerly with Chevron Renewable Energy Group and Neste before that, as its new president and chief operating officer.Â
Â
Fernandes brings more than three decades of experience across renewable fuels, petroleum and chemical industries and is widely regarded for scaling innovative clean‑fuel businesses, developing new markets and building long-term relationships with investors, customers, suppliers, policymakers and other stakeholders across the value chain.
Â
In his new role at Alder Renewables, Fernandes will support operations, business development and strategy execution as the company transitions from pilot‑scale technology to its first commercial projects.Â
Â
Before most recently serving as a general manager and vice president at Chevron REG, Fernandes spent more than 15 years with Neste.Â
Â
As business-development manager and later general manager and president of Neste U.S., he led business-development and sales teams and successfully commercialized renewable diesel in the U.S. and Canada.Â
Â
He also headed up Neste’s sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) development and managed early sales of SAF in the U.S.Â
Â
Fernandes has long been a strong supporter of the renewable fuels industry, Alder stated.
Â
He previously served on the governing board of Clean Fuels Alliance America and is a co-founder of the Advanced Biofuels Association.
Â
He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Princeton University and a master’s in business administration (MBA) from the Schulich School of Business.
Â
He is also a licensed professional engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario.
