Saipem announced July 27 that it has been awarded a new engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for a new deoxygenation unit at Enilive’s biorefinery in Venice, Porto Marghera, Italy.

The new unit, designed to process 70 metric tons per hour of biogenic feedstocks, will contribute to increasing the production capacity of hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) biofuel, also known as renewable diesel.

This new award forms part of the broader collaboration agreement between Eni and Saipem in the field of biorefining and follows the EPC contract awarded for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production at the Venice biorefinery announced in June 2025.
