EcoCeres Inc. released its 2024 sustainability report Aug. 4 detailing the company’s initiatives in converting low-value waste into high-value sustainable fuels, while advancing its commitment to decarbonization and circular-economy practices towards a net-zero carbon future.
Key highlights from the report include:
Setting industry standards: EcoCeres’ products attained 100 percent International Sustainability and Carbon Certification, achieving up to 90 percent greenhouse-gas (GHG) emission reduction compared to conventional fossil fuels. Its raw-material traceability solution integrates with the EU Union Database and benchmarks against the U.S. Renewable Fuel Standard, complying with RED II and ISCC requirements.
Enabling customer decarbonization: By supplying sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) to leading airlines such as Cathay Pacific, British Airways, Air New Zealand and logistics companies, EcoCeres enabled clients to reduce 1.2 million metric tons of CO2 emissions in 2024 and targets 5 million tons of reduction by 2035.
Pioneering 100 percent waste-based biofuels: Employed 100 percent waste-based feedstock such as used cooking oil (UCO) and other waste materials to transform over 400,000 tons of waste into high-value renewable fuels.
Advancing climate strategy: Increased renewable energy consumption by 144 percent at EcoCeres’ ISO-certified Jiangsu and Hebei production plants since 2022, reducing approximately 83,000 tons of carbon emissions.
Driving technological innovation: Ramped up R&D spending to USD$6.6 million in 2024, marking an increase of 29.4 percent from 2023, focusing on advancing high-efficiency biomass-refining technologies.
Collaborative industry engagement: EcoCeres actively participated in key industry forums (World Economic Forum, Singapore Airshow, IATA World Sustainability Symposium) shaping policy, advocating for regulatory harmonization and supporting collective market development.
“This report underscores our unwavering dedication to integrating environmental stewardship into every facet of our business,” said Matti Lievonen, CEO of EcoCeres. “By infusing ESG rigor across operations—from 100 percent waste-based feedstock sourcing to stakeholder partnerships—we are proving that industrial decarbonization can be scalable, sustainable and socially equitable. While our collaborations with leading global airlines have accelerated SAF adoption at Hong Kong International Airport, we are also thrilled about launching our first Malaysia plant to produce SAF later this year. This expansion will boost renewable fuel output by 420,000 tons annually, doubling our production capacity with efficient pipelines for seamless distribution.”
Alongside the sustainability report, EcoCeres has also released its 2024 GHG accounting and verification report, providing a transparent data-driven assessment of the company’s carbon footprint, emission-reduction strategies and progress towards its net-zero ambitions.
