EcoCeres, a global leader in the innovation and commercialization of renewable fuels and green molecules, announced June 17 the extension of its sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) supply agreement with British Airways until the end of 2030.

Under the extended agreement, EcoCeres’ SAF is expected to help British Airways avoid approximately 198,000 metric tons of lifecycle-carbon emissions compared with using the same volume of fossil jet fuel—equivalent to offsetting the carbon footprint of around 341,000 round-trip economy-class seats on direct flights between London and New York.

Produced from 100 percent waste-based feedstocks such as used cooking oil (UCO), EcoCeres’ SAF can achieve lifecycle greenhouse-gas emissions reductions of up to 94.4 percent compared with fossil jet fuel.

As a drop-in fuel that can be used in existing aircraft and airport fueling infrastructure without modification, SAF is one of the most immediate and practical solutions currently available to help reduce aviation emissions.

“We are proud to extend our collaboration with British Airways as we continue working together to advance the adoption of sustainable aviation fuel in commercial aviation,” said EcoCeres CEO Matti Lievonen. “This extension reflects the strength of our partnership and our shared commitment to accelerating practical decarbonization solutions for the aviation sector. At EcoCeres, we remain focused on expanding the availability of waste-based SAF and supporting our customers as they progress on their emissions-reduction journeys.”

The extension underscores the importance of long-term collaboration across the aviation value chain to support SAF market development and strengthen supply visibility as demand continues to grow.

As airlines and industry stakeholders work toward their net-zero ambitions, partnerships such as this play a critical role in accelerating the scale-up of SAF production and use globally.

EcoCeres said it continues to enhance its production capabilities and strategic partnerships to meet growing demand for renewable fuel solutions across the aviation sector and beyond.

“The extended agreement with British Airways marks another important milestone in EcoCeres’ mission to turn waste into renewable energy and accelerate the transition to a lower-carbon transport system,” the company stated.
