Chandra Asri Group invests in Biofront’s Indonesian UCO-collection unit

Indonesia-based chemical and infrastructure-solutions company Chandra Asri Group announced Oct. 28 that it has invested in TUKR, Biofront’s Indonesian used cooking oil (UCO) collection unit.

TUKR handles the entire process from UCO collection, filtration, storage, and shipping to biofuel refineries.

TUKR’s website states that the company began operations in 2021 and has earned ISCC certification.

The company name TUKR was inspired by the Indonesian word for the act of exchange, “Tukar.”

According to Chandra Asri Group, Biofront itself is one of the world’s largest collectors of waste-based feedstock, including UCO, with operations in eight countries.

UCO collected from food-production waste generated by restaurants, hotels, malls and other establishments is sent to biorefineries to produce ecofriendly fuels, including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

Chandra Asri Group said this investment is critical to its strategic growth in the green-fuel sector, particularly through the production of biofuels and bionaphtha.

Furthermore, the company noted the investment is an important step in advancing Indonesia’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2060, affirming Chandra Asri Group’s commitment to support the national energy transition.
