Brazilian biodiesel producer Be8 announced March 3 that it has officially taken over the operation of a biodiesel production facility in Alto Araguaia, Mato Grosso, Brazil.
Located at a strategic logistics point, the Alto Araguaia unit was acquired from União Agroindustrial under the name Fênix and has a production capacity of 245 million liters (64.7 million gallons) of biodiesel per year.
The unit, originally founded in 2008, underwent different restructurings over the years and was acquired in 2024 by the União Agroindustrial group before being incorporated into Be8.
Now, the newly acquired facility becomes part of Be8’s industrial ecosystem, aligned with its standards of governance, operational efficiency and sustainability.
With the incorporation of the plant, Be8 increases its installed capacity to 1.71 billion liters (451.7 million gallons) per year, representing a growth of 16.7 percent and consolidating a 15 percent share of the national market.
“Each new investment we make reinforces our commitment to building a more sustainable future,” said Be8 President Erasmo Carlos Battistella. “Be8’s purpose is to lead the energy transition, helping to decarbonize the transport sector and preserve the planet for future generations.”
Battistella added, “With the sixth unit integrated into our manufacturing park in Brazil, we are putting into practice a fundamental step in Be8’s strategy to expand our national operations, bringing our production closer to the main consumer markets and ensuring greater operational and logistical efficiency, with our quality standard.”
With the new plant, Be8 said it strengthens its position as one of the country’s leading biodiesel suppliers, contributing to meeting mandatory blending targets as well as reducing greenhouse-gas emissions in the transport sector.
