Avnos’ largest hybrid direct-air capture deployment enters operations

Avnos, a developer of infrastructure-scale hybrid direct-air capture (HDAC™), announced Sept. 1 that Project Brighton has entered operations in Bridgewater, New Jersey. 

 



Developed with funding from the U.S. Office of Naval Research, Brighton supports Avnos’ work piloting DAC-sourced CO2 to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

 



Brighton is designed to capture up to 450 tons of atmospheric CO2 annually while also producing approximately 475,000 gallons of clean water each year.

Project Brighton is sited alongside Avnos’ Technology Development Center on Milltown Road in Bridgewater, bringing research, testing and product development together on a single campus.

 



The deployment expands the company’s operational capabilities while supporting ongoing technology validation as Avnos continues to scale. 

 



Avnos’ HDAC technology produces clean water while capturing atmospheric CO2 in a single process, without requiring external heat input. 

 



It integrates with data centers, geologic carbon storage and next-generation fuel production, helping a diverse range of customers address energy, water and carbon challenges through a single infrastructure platform. 

 



“Brighton is our largest operating deployment to date and demonstrates our ability to deliver infrastructure at increasing scale,” said Will Kain, the founder and CEO of Avnos. “It also provides the operational experience and real-world performance data that will help accelerate future commercial deployments, while helping customers address interconnected energy, water and emissions challenges.”

Avnos has been part of our business community for several years now, and it’s great to see this project reach operational status.” 

 



With Brighton now operational, Avnos continues development of Project Cedar, supported by up to $17 million in project financing. 



 

Cedar will deploy four HDAC modules, engineered for faster build times, greater scalability and more repeatable project delivery as Avnos scales HDAC infrastructure. 

 



Backed by more than $100 million in funding and support from Mitsubishi, Shell U.S. Gas & Power, NextEra Energy Resources, ConocoPhillips, JetBlue Ventures, U.S. DOE and the U.S. Department of Defense, Avnos said it continues to scale infrastructure solutions for a variety of commercial applications.
