Turkey-based Arkas Bunker announced Aug. 12 that it is steadily advancing its sustainable maritime goals with two successful B24 bunkering operations carried out in Istanbul.
The total supply of 685 tons of biofuel marks a significant contribution to the maritime industry’s transition to low-emission fuels, according to Arkas Bunker.
As the first company in Turkey to obtain the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification System GmbH’s EU certification for marine fuels, Arkas Bunker said it continues its ecofriendly fuel deliveries at full pace.
Following previous supplies for major global shipowners such as Arkas Line and Yang Ming, the company, which has made significant contributions to biofuel supply in Turkey, has now completed two new B24 operations in Istanbul.
The first operation, carried out on July 26, involved the delivery of 500 tons of B24 (0.1 percent sulfur) to the vessel Carlos Fischer, owned by Citrosuco.
The operation was completed smoothly by the Ulucak barge, led by Captain Hilmi Turker.
The second operation took place Aug. 7 with 185 tons of B24 (3.5 percent sulfur) supplied to the scrubber-equipped T.Adalyn, a vessel in the fleet of Deniz Isletmeciligi ve Tankerciligi A.S. (Ditaş), a subsidiary of KOÇ Holding.
This operation was conducted seamlessly using the Alsancak 2 barge, led by Captain Recep Kasarcı.
Following the successful completion of both operations, the captains of the vessels were presented with commemorative plaques by Arkas Bunker.
“Arkas Bunker is pioneering efforts to reduce carbon emissions in the maritime sector through continued ISCC EU-certified biofuel deliveries,” Arkas Bunker stated.
“The company remains committed to offering environmentally friendly biofuel solutions with biocomponent content of up to B30, in full compliance with all international sulfur regulations,” it added.
