AirCo announced May 19 that it has opened a new manufacturing and integration facility in New Britain, Pennsylvania, that will serve as its primary hub for research and development, engineering, operations and manufacturing.
The facility will house the production of its modular synthetic-fuel production systems: the MAD Fuel System™.
AirCo’s containerized MAD units produce jet fuel and ground-vehicle fuel from extracted CO2, eliminating the need for traditional fuel transport and supply chains, the company said.
Backed by a recent StratFi award from AFWerx and the U.S. Air Force, these systems are designed to operate with increasing autonomy and minimal on-site personnel needed over time.
The opening of the Pennsylvania facility marks what AirCo said is a major step in its mission to decentralize fuel production and produce fuel on-site where it’s needed most.
“This manufacturing facility extends our footprint so that we can better support our partners in both the government and private sector,” said Scott Reece, AirCo’s vice president of operations.
AirCo said New Britain positions the company for the next phase of growth—deeper government partnerships, expanded manufacturing capacity and continued development of new technologies within a single operational hub.
“As production of the MAD Fuel System™ accelerates, this facility becomes the backbone of everything we’re building,” the company stated.
