US biodiesel imports, exports and renewable diesel imports all up in June

U.S. biodiesel imports and exports, as well as renewable diesel imports from Singapore, were all up in June over May, according to new data released by the Energy Information Administration.

Biodiesel imports in June hit more than 18.7 million gallons, up from nearly 13.3 million in May. Just over half of that, or more than 9.8 million gallons, came from Canada while biodiesel shipped to the U.S. from Germany soared to more than 6.3 million gallons. More than 2.5 million gallons hit U.S. shores from South Korea.

Renewable diesel imports from Singapore spiked in June over May, jumping from 36.5 million gallons in May to nearly 46 million gallons in June.

U.S. biodiesel exports were also up in June over May, but not to the extent that imports increased. In June, the U.S. exported more than 27 million gallons of biodiesel, up slightly over May’s volume of more than 24.5 million. Expectedly, the lion’s share, or nearly 25 million gallons, was shipped north of the border to Canada, while nearly 1.5 million gallons went south of the border to Mexico. In addition, 840,000 gallons of U.S. biodiesel was shipped to Peru in June.
