Technip Energies has been awarded a contract by Total Energies for the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at the French multinational oil company’s Grandpuits platform in France.

The contract covers engineering, procurement services and construction assistance for the conversion of the Grandpuits refinery into a zero-crude platform oriented towards SAF.

Once in operation, this facility will have the capacity to produce approximately 70 million gallons of SAF per year from sustainable feedstock such as used cooking oil and animal fat.

“We are pleased to have been selected by Total Energies for this project, which is fully in line with Technip Energies’ strategy to accelerate the energy transition and the reduction of CO2 emissions using SAF,” said Bhaskar Patel, senior vice president of sustainable fuels, chemicals and circularity at Technip Energies. “We will leverage our technical expertise and execution capabilities to make this project a success and to contribute to Total Energies’ transformation strategy towards low-carbon businesses.”

Conversion of Total Energies’ Grandpuits refinery into a zero-crude platform is based on the development of several future-oriented activities in the field of biomass, renewable energies, and the circular economy.

Operating in 34 countries and employing 15,000 people, Technip Energies offers a wide range of services and proprietary and partnership-based technologies, including biobased diesel production technologies as well as first- and second-generation ethanol processes.
