“On behalf of Imperial, I would like to thank Jon Wetmore for his leadership as vice president of downstream over the last five years,” said Brad Corson, chairman, president and CEO of Imperial. “During his tenure, Jon led Imperial’s downstream business to record performance in a number of areas, including maximizing earnings across a wide variety of market conditions. He was also instrumental in progressing the renewable diesel project at our Strathcona refinery in Edmonton, Alberta, a strategic investment that will help the company and our customers reduce our greenhouse-gas emissions.”

Wetmore holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Queen’s University.

He began his career with Imperial in 1994 in Toronto, Ontario, and held various technical and management positions within Canada, as well as expatriate assignments in the United States and Europe.

Wetmore began his tenure as an Imperial vice president Jan. 1, 2018.

A replacement for Wetmore will be named at a later date.

Imperial is 69.6 percent owned by ExxonMobil.

The company is Canada’s largest petroleum refiner, a major producer of crude oil and natural gas, a key petrochemical producer and a leading fuels marketer from coast to coast.
