In partnership with Atlantic Aviation and AvFuel, Stockton Metropolitan Airport (SCK) in California now offers sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to general-aviation customers on demand.

Customers requiring jet fuel while traveling to or from Northern California do not need to make a reservation or maintain a fueling contract to purchase SAF at Atlantic in Stockton.

“The environmental benefits of SAF are realized when the fuel is created via renewable feedstock instead of crude oil, not when it is combusted,” said Richard Sokol, airport director of the Stockton Metropolitan Airport. “Neat, or unblended, SAF reduces up to 80 percent of lifecycle greenhouse-gas emissions compared to conventional jet fuel. We intend to be a regional leader in environmental sustainability as San Joaquin County continues to welcome more economic growth to the area.”

SAF in Stockton will be available via Atlantic Aviation’s SAF Marketplace, which enables accounting and verification of claimed SAF purchases and provides customers with emissions-reduction receipts upon request after their SAF gallons are dispensed.

These receipts summarize key sustainability information and include chain-of-custody documentation evidencing traceability from fuel production to delivery at Atlantic’s SCK fixed-base operation.

Atlantic also offers SAF more broadly via the industry-accepted book-and-claim process throughout its national network of more than 100 airport locations.

This development aligns well with other local sustainability initiatives.

In late October, the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors approved a $30 million solar-energy project, which includes a substantial airport component.

SCK said it intends to work with additional aviation-industry partners to make meaningful contributions to global sustainability goals.
